Metaphysical Mom's Musings
Welcome, dear souls, to my sacred corner at Metaphysical Mom, where I weave the unfolding mysteries of life through metaphysical tools, nature’s gentle wisdom, and the eternal truths of the spirit. This morning, as I sat in my quiet time, sipping tea and basking in the soft light filtering through my window, I turned to my trusted guides—tarot, nature, and archetypes for spiritual wholeness. What unfolded was a tapestry of insights to illuminate my path, guiding me toward closure, joy, and a radiant new beginning. Let me share these gifts with you, as they may spark your own journey toward healing and connection.
My tarot deck, ever a mirror of the soul, spoke clearly today. The cards I drew painted a vivid picture of my past, present, and future, each one a stepping stone toward spiritual wholeness.
Next, I turned to herbal wisdom and drew comfrey, a plant ruled by Saturn, the great teacher of structure and cycles. Comfrey speaks of completion, achievement, and the nearing end of a great cycle. Its energy is one of success, closure, and spiritual wholeness, mending not just the musculoskeletal system but the soul’s tender places. Comfrey invites me to stay aligned, notice patterns, and find healing in the lessons woven through life’s tapestry. As I reflect on this, I sense a cycle of growth drawing to a close, preparing me for the radiant sharing promised by the Ace of Cups. Comfrey’s grounding presence assures me that wholeness is within reach.
For the third time in two weeks, Porcupine appeared in my animal wisdom card draw—a pattern I can’t ignore! This prickly yet endearing creature urges me to open my heart to the simple joys of childhood. I’m transported to memories of making games from scraps, crafting toys from nothing but imagination. Porcupine’s message is clear: reconnect with what sparked joy in my youth—reading, gardening, creating. These passions will fuel my intention to share love, compassion, and joy with the Universe. This animal wisdom feels like a gentle nudge to keep playfulness alive as I step into my next chapter.
The archetype of the Stone anchored today’s reflections with its psychic and literal weight. In archetype wisdom, the Stone embodies permanence, reliability, and a grounding connection to stillness, quiet, and peace. In our frenzied world, it offers balance, inviting me to root myself in calm. To deepen this, the accompanying handbook to the Archetype cards suggested I reflect on Caspar David Friedrich’s painting A Walk at Dusk (public domain, per Getty), which captures the Stone’s essence. In this work, a lone figure contemplates a megalithic tomb under a silvery, moonlit sky. Winter surrounds him, with leafless trees looming like specters, yet a grove of verdant oaks rises through the mist, promising life. The waxing moon, high above, symbolizes Christ and rebirth, balancing the tomb’s message of mortality.
Friedrich, a German Romantic, wove Christian themes through nature’s cycles, and this painting embodies both melancholy and hope. It resonates with Jewish mourning traditions, where stones are left at graves as symbols of enduring love and memory. The Stone’s archetype wisdom inspired me to consider building a cairn, as artist Andy Goldsworthy does, to commemorate my intentions and honor my brother, who recently passed. His loss reminds me of life’s brevity, urging me to cherish loved ones and move forward with purpose.
Today’s metaphysical tools—tarot, herbs, animals, and archetypes—wove a cohesive message of closure, healing, and radiant sharing. The tarot wisdom of the Six and Nine of Pentacles grounds me in a past of generosity and a present of abundance (thanks to the loving relationship with my family), while the Ace of Cups beckons me to share love and compassion, bringing happiness to others. Comfrey’s herbal wisdom confirms I’m nearing the completion of a great cycle, finding wholeness in life’s lessons. Porcupine’s animal wisdom fuels my joy, reconnecting me to childhood passions like reading and gardening, which will energize my mission to spread light. The Stone’s archetype wisdom provides a solid foundation, anchoring me in peace and stillness as I prepare for this new chapter.
Friedrich’s A Walk at Dusk encapsulates these themes: winter’s quiet preparation mirrors my cycle’s end, while the waxing moon heralds rebirth, aligning with the Ace of Cups’ promise. The cairn I envision building will honor my brother and my intentions, a tangible symbol of spiritual wholeness. As I move forward, I’m filled with gratitude for these metaphysical tools and the wisdom of nature, guiding me to live with love, compassion, and purpose.
